Marking International Volunteer Day 2022 We celebrated International Volunteer Day with millions of volunteers who work in solidarity and promote the volunteer spirit. As we marked IVD, we recognized the life-changing impact of volunteers on millions daily. Check our stories of volunteer solidarity in 2022. UNV’s Executive Coordinator Toily Kurbanov marked IVD in Yemen, paying tribute in his speech to volunteers, “the everyday champions of local action and global solidarity. Their time and efforts make a positive impact on people's lives. Their passion helps heal the planet." In Mexico, Deputy Executive Coordinator Kyoko Yokosuka addressed participants in the IVD event, reminding all that “for volunteers – and for the world – the only way forward is in solidarity”. International Day of Persons with Disabilities On 3 December every year, we emphasize the importance of inclusion in life and the workplace. UNV’s disability inclusion strategy aims to create a talent pool of qualified professionals living with disabilities, visible and invisible, who advance sustainable development at national and global levels. Explore our feature on UN Volunteers with disabilities and others advancing inclusion around the world. 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Violence against women and girls remains the most pervasive human rights violation worldwide. On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Human Rights Day, we featured UN Volunteers addressing gender-based violence with UNFPA, UN Women, UNDP and other UN partners. |

UN Volunteers from East and Southern Africa are raring to champion the cause of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Over 30 UN Volunteers joined the pilot session in November 2022, learning about the concepts of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Through participatory approaches, personal reflections and group discussions they became more aware of personal biases and means to address them to create an inclusive and enabling work environment. Further workshops will be offered in 2023 – we will keep you posted. |

Well done to all CDLF participants in Senegal & Gambia The Capacity Development & Learning Facility (CDLF) workshop was a great success with 60 UN Volunteers from both countries getting together in person to learn skills and share good practices on enhancing their personal and professional capacities. This CDLF workshop focused on action learning to strengthen leadership and resilience skills for inclusive volunteerism. Volunteers worked in groups to develop career plans by identifying learning needs and gaining skills in human relations management, workplace stress management and work-life balance. |
