Hello UN Volunteer, See what learning opportunities are coming up and all the big news for you this month. |

On International Youth Day, 12 August, we turned the spotlight on UN Volunteers serving youth, or youth themselves. The theme was Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World. Content came streaming in from all our regions, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Kosovo (as per UN SC1244) to Djibouti, DRC, Gabon, Madagascar and Sierra Leone, all the way to Guatemala and Micronesia. Read for yourself how #YouthLead and UN Volunteers are at the fore: International Youth Day (unv.org). On 19 August we marked World Humanitarian Day, celebrating humanitarians delivering “no matter what”. Our UN Volunteers play a crucial part of the UN’s humanitarian response across the globe, so we proudly joined the SG in saluting the courage and dedication of humanitarian aid workers everywhere. We recognized the dedication of our UN Volunteers to the core values and humanitarian principles that steer the work of the United Nations. On this day, we also remembered our fellow UN colleagues who lost their lives upholding the humanitarian commitments of the United Nations. Check out our dedicated content feature on some of our UN Volunteers delivering #NoMatterwhat in Sudan and Egypt, Benin, DRC and Niger, Malawi and Somalia, Thailand and Kiribati and Tuvalu: World Humanitarian Day (unv.org). |
