👀 A snapshot of April on UNV.org

2024 marks a historic year for the UNV and IOM partnership in Colombia! Read the story on how the number of available volunteer opportunities nationwide to join IOM teams has multiplied.

In April, we marked World Health Day on 7^th April 2024 with an extensive feature from all our regions. Here’s a look at the stories – "Supporting healthcare waste management in Myanmar", "Demystifying mental health, Promoting reproductive health in Benin and Chad" and "Safeguarding health in times of crisis".

UNV also made important strides in Information Technology to making web applications accessible for persons with disabilities.

The UNICEF Country Representative in Ethiopia’s interview and thoughts on volunteering helped us compile a story called "Discovering yourself through volunteering".

The Diversity Mosaic page on the website was also populated with new stories of UN Volunteers and Online Volunteers making important contributions to disability inclusion.

UN Volunteers have stood on the frontlines of this war – steadfast but heartbroken and overwhelmed with what they witness around them. As we capture their despair through testimonials, at the same time, we are reminded of their resilience in the line of fire. Through their testimonials, we get a reflection of the horrors they face day in and day out – charting their voices over the past six months.

🌟 Empowering Youth Volunteers in Nairobi!

Greetings from Nairobi!

We are excited to share the highlights from the recent Youth Volunteer Workshop held from April 2nd to 5th in Kenya. Bringing together 34 volunteers serving across 12 different countries, the workshop marks 2nd out of several workshops planned in different regions this year.

The workshop's objectives were to:

Develop leadership skills
Enhance conflict management abilities
Cultivate intercultural sensitivity
Encourage a lasting community of support

We thank all colleagues who helped organize this event and our volunteers who participated.

📣 Exciting News from Afghanistan!

UN Volunteers in Afghanistan made very strategic use of the Capacity Development Learning Facility (CDLF) to support up to 64 UN volunteers enhancing their Career Development skills.

They learned how to align their careers with their values and strengths, how to write a convincing application cover letter and CV, and how to best prepare for a competency-based interview.

Your journey as a UN Volunteer is not just about the present but also about crafting a fulfilling and purpose-driven future.
